Description

VDB 123 Serpent's Cloud
This supercloud of dust contains many reflection nebulae, one of which is vdB123, the Blue Reflection Nebula. This super dust cloud lies above the rich Serpens star field in the Milky Way. Also noted are many HH objects in this part of the cloud. This entire region is a small part of the larger structure of the Milky Way, known as "The Great Rift" which is itself a giant, dark band that passes through the plane of the Milky Way.
